The inauguration of the GAS Check program in 1985 signified the beginning of an industry-wide effort to help reduce (and hopefully eliminate) residential accidents involving propane.

The program has been in operation for more than 10 years and has more than 800 companies participating, which represents over 60 percent of NPGA member retail marketer locations.
