Sacramento, CA (January 29, 2007) – The Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA), in a partnership with the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association (HPBA) and air districts throughout the state, is providing $300 rebates to consumers for each new propane hearth appliance purchased during the HPBA’s Change 4 Clean Air campaign. The campaign begins February 1 and ends March 31.
Consumers who purchase new, propane-powered free-standing hearth appliances (also known as stoves) or dedicated propane fireplace inserts from participating retailers and replace a non-EPA approved stove or open hearth can apply to receive a $300 rebate from the California propane industry. Additional rebates are being offered by selected stove manufacturers, retailers, and air agencies – in some areas totaling nearly $700.
“The propane industry is pleased to join with the hearth products industry in this partnership to improve California’s air quality,” said Lesley Brown Garland, vice president of the Western Propane Gas Association. “New propane stoves are more than 99 percent cleaner-burning than old wood stoves, which not only improves a home’s indoor air quality but also improves air quality for the entire community.”
